1. About Dreaming About Italian
Dreaming About Italian is operated by Martina Di Maio, based in Torre Annunziata, Naples, Italy.
VAT identification number: IT10197871212
Contact: martina@dreamingaboutitalian.com
These Terms cover individual, pair and group Italian lessons, Book Club, homestays, group study vacations, programmes hosting an Italian teacher abroad, and other language-learning services described in your booking confirmation.
Your written quotation or booking confirmation specifies the service, price, dates, inclusions and any additional conditions supplied before payment.
Mandatory consumer rights take precedence over these Terms.
2. Booking and payment
Online lessons and Book Club must be paid for before participation begins.
Accepted payment methods are SumUp, Wise and Revolut. Online lessons are scheduled through Google Calendar. Communication is available by email or the business WhatsApp channel.
A parent or legal guardian must book for students under 18. Students must be older than 11.
Advertised online lesson and Book Club prices are final. For homestays and study vacations, the quotation identifies additional charges and explains the total payable price, or how it is calculated, before payment.
3. Online lesson packages
Package validity begins when payment is received.
| 5 lessons | 10 weeks |
| 10 lessons | 15 weeks |
| 20 lessons | 25 weeks |
Lessons must be taken within the package’s validity period. Packages cannot ordinarily be paused.
Outside applicable statutory rights and remedies where we fail to provide the agreed service, purchased packages are non-refundable. Package discounts do not remove mandatory consumer rights.
4. Individual lesson cancellations
Individual lessons may be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled starting time.
Later cancellations and missed lessons count as completed and use one package credit.
If Martina cancels:
- The cancelled lesson is rescheduled without losing a credit.
- One previously forfeited lesson is also reinstated, if the student has one.
- Package validity is extended where necessary to allow the replacement and reinstated lessons to be taken.
The revised expiry date is confirmed in writing.
If technical problems prevent a lesson from taking place, it is rescheduled without loss of a lesson credit.
5. Pair and group lessons
Pair and group lessons take place at the agreed time.
A student who misses a session is not entitled to a refund or an individual replacement, including when advance notice is given.
If Martina cancels, a replacement session is arranged and one previously forfeited lesson is reinstated for an affected student who has one. Package validity is extended where necessary.
If technical problems prevent the session from taking place, it is rescheduled without loss of a lesson credit.
6. Book Club
Payment is required before the cycle begins.
The teacher communicates the enrolment closing deadline by email or WhatsApp before it takes effect.
- Cancellation before both enrolment closes and the cycle begins: 50% refund of the cycle payment.
- Cancellation once enrolment closes or the cycle begins: no contractual refund.
- Missed meetings: no refund or replacement meeting.
- If the teacher cancels the cycle because too few students enrol: 100% refund, with advance notification.
These conditions remain subject to mandatory consumer rights.
Books, materials, meeting dates and other inclusions are described in the cycle information.
7. Homestays and travel programme payments
A 30% deposit reserves the agreed dates.
The remaining balance may be paid in instalments agreed in writing. The final instalment may be paid on arrival where the booking confirmation permits it.
Your quotation specifies accommodation, teaching, activities, meals, transfers and other inclusions. Expenses are included only when expressly stated.
8. Travel cancellations and refunds
Cancellation deadlines depend on the programme’s arrival date. Before payment, you receive the exact cancellation windows and corresponding deposit refund percentages—90%, 70% or 20%.
Homestay schedules use a three-month threshold before arrival. Group study-vacation schedules use a five-month threshold. The written conditions for programmes hosting a teacher abroad specify the applicable schedule before payment.
If you cancel before arrival:
- The deposit refund is calculated using the percentage applicable to your cancellation date.
- Any additional instalments paid beyond the deposit are refunded in full.
Please communicate cancellation in writing by email or WhatsApp.
If Dreaming About Italian cancels the programme, including because too few participants enrol, all payments made to Dreaming About Italian are refunded in full.
No contractual refund is provided for voluntary early departure. This does not remove mandatory rights or remedies where services are not provided as agreed.
Where a programme qualifies as regulated package travel, the applicable traveller protections take precedence over these general conditions.
9. In-person participation and independent time
Our experiences focus on Italian language and culture. Martina is an Italian teacher, not an official tourist guide. An official guide is included only where stated in the programme.
Participants manage their independent free time and personal travel arrangements. Reasonable questions and suggestions are welcome, but personal itinerary planning and luggage handling are not included unless agreed.
Please communicate relevant dietary, accessibility or other participation needs before booking so suitability and available adjustments can be discussed.
These boundaries do not remove responsibility for services we have agreed to provide or responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.
10. Statutory withdrawal rights
Contractual cancellation rules are separate from statutory withdrawal rights.
Where applicable, consumers have 14 days from concluding a distance service contract to withdraw. To exercise this right, email martina@dreamingaboutitalian.com with a clear statement identifying the purchase and requesting withdrawal.
You may use this wording, although it is not compulsory:
> I give notice that I withdraw from my contract for [service], concluded on [date]. My name is [name].
If you request lessons to begin during an applicable withdrawal period, your express request is obtained separately. Where required, you also acknowledge that the withdrawal right is lost once the service is fully performed.
If you withdraw after requesting an early start, a proportionate charge for services already provided may apply as permitted by law.
Applicable refunds are made within the statutory deadline, generally 14 days from notification, using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed without additional cost.
Specified-date accommodation and certain leisure services may have exceptions. Travel packages have separate rules. An exception is not automatically assumed for every service.
11. Teaching materials and privacy
Teaching materials are supplied for personal study and must not be sold or publicly redistributed without permission, subject to lawful uses.
Respect other students’ privacy. Recording, reposting or sharing sessions requires appropriate permission.
Optional publicity and recordings are handled according to the Privacy Policy and the specific consent obtained. Declining publicity or recording does not prevent participation.
12. Complaints and applicable law
Send complaints to martina@dreamingaboutitalian.com, including your booking details and a description of the issue.
Italian law applies without removing mandatory consumer protections applicable in your country of habitual residence.
These Terms do not exclude rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded, or impose court jurisdiction contrary to applicable consumer protections.
13. Changes to these Terms
The conditions supplied when you purchase govern your booking. Later website changes do not automatically change an existing agreement.
The 24-hour individual-lesson cancellation rule applies to new purchases once adopted and communicated. Existing purchases retain their agreed conditions unless validly changed.
