1. Who we are

Dreaming About Italian is operated by Martina Di Maio, based in Torre Annunziata, Naples, Italy.

VAT identification number: IT10197871212

Contact: martina@dreamingaboutitalian.com

Martina Di Maio is the data controller responsible for personal information collected through this website and in connection with our services.

2. Information we collect

Depending on your enquiry or booking, we may collect:

  • Name, email address, telephone number and correspondence.

  • Billing address, invoicing details and payment confirmations.

  • Italian level, learning goals, availability, attendance, assignments and lesson notes.

  • Travel dates, accommodation preferences and information necessary to organise your programme.

  • Dietary or accessibility requirements you choose to share.

  • Photos, videos, testimonials or recordings, where separately agreed.

  • Technical and website usage information collected through cookies and Google Analytics.

Please provide only information relevant to your enquiry or participation.

3. Why we use your information

We use your information to respond to enquiries, assess your learning needs, arrange bookings, deliver lessons and programmes, communicate with you, issue invoices and meet legal obligations.

Our legal bases include performing a contract, taking steps you request before booking, complying with legal obligations, and legitimate interests such as handling complaints and protecting business records.

Optional marketing, promotional images and recordings rely on separate consent. Where information about dietary or accessibility needs reveals health information, we obtain explicit consent unless another lawful basis applies.

Information necessary for booking, teaching or invoicing may be required to provide the service. Marketing and publicity consent are optional.

4. Service providers and sharing

We use external providers to administer and deliver our services. These include website hosting and form services, Google services for communication and teaching, Aruba for electronic invoicing, SumUp, Wise and Revolut for payments, WhatsApp for communication, and Google Analytics for website analytics.

Martina personally manages the business accounts and enters invoicing information into Aruba. External providers nevertheless process relevant information through their systems.

Payment credentials are handled through the payment provider’s payment process.

Where necessary to deliver an in-person programme, relevant booking information may be shared with accommodation or activity providers. We explain relevant sharing when arranging your programme.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. International processing

Some providers may process personal information outside the European Economic Area. Such processing requires an applicable legal transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision covering the recipient or appropriate contractual safeguards.

Contact us for information about the safeguards applicable to your data.

6. Cookies and Google Analytics

Our website uses cookies and Google Analytics to support website functions and understand how visitors use the site.

Necessary cookies support essential functions. Optional analytics cookies require consent where applicable. You can manage optional cookies through the website’s cookie controls.

Declining optional cookies does not prevent you from browsing the website.

7. Photos, videos and recordings

You can participate in our services without agreeing to promotional photos, videos or testimonials.

Permission is requested separately through a consent form or a specific request explaining the intended use and audience.

Occasionally, a session may be recorded for an absent student, with participants’ permission. Educational recordings are shared only with the agreed audience. Permission for an educational recording does not automatically authorise publication online.

You may withdraw consent by emailing us. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing, but we will stop future consent-based use and address removal of material under our control, subject to applicable legal requirements.

8. Children

We teach students older than 11. A parent or legal guardian must arrange bookings for students under 18.

We collect information necessary to provide and administer the service. Appropriate parental or guardian permission is required for publicity or recordings involving minors, with the student’s interests and wishes respected.

9. Email updates

We do not currently send a newsletter. If we introduce one, subscription will be optional and its purpose will be explained when you sign up.

Booking a service does not automatically subscribe you to marketing. Subscribers will be able to unsubscribe using the method provided or by contacting us.

10. Retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as necessary for its purpose, including delivering services, administering bookings, meeting legal obligations and resolving disputes.

Student and business documents are generally kept for at least five years, subject to applicable legal requirements and periodic review of whether continued retention is necessary. Accounting documents are retained for the legally required period.

Enquiries, sensitive information and recordings are retained only while necessary for their specific purpose, unless another legal reason requires continued retention.

We take reasonable measures to protect information and limit access according to its purpose. No online transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

11. Your rights

Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or portability of your information. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent.

These rights are subject to legal conditions. For example, required invoicing records may need to be retained despite a deletion request.

Email martina@dreamingaboutitalian.com to exercise your rights. We normally respond within one month. We may request proportionate information to verify your identity and will explain any lawful extension of the response period.

You may complain to the Italian Data Protection Authority, the [Garante per la protezione dei dati personali](https://www.garanteprivacy.it), or another competent supervisory authority.

We do not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you solely through automated processing.

12. Updates

We may update this policy when our practices change. The revision date appears above.
